I jus purchased this for my MacBook Pro retina early 2013 model. It is 16GB ram and has a 512GB SS hard drive. From what I understand I bring up my MacBook Pro and go to Time Machine and plug in the WD drive. Then follow the prompts for back up.

Is this correct? This is suppose to be already formatted for MAC. There is an old back-up from the previous owner. Do I just click on my new drive and continue? After mine is complete can I delete the other back-up and be okay? Everything is in my Apple ID and name on Applecare I purchased.

It is running 10.8.5 OS which would have only had the one update since Mountain Lion 10.8.2 OS was installed new on it. I removed the printer on it. It does have Microsoft Office for Mac that I am sure he bought. I will lose it but I can always re-buy it if needed.
