Wifi Max Wl-685z Driver For Mac

I am using a Windows XP 32 bit computer. No matter how hard I try I can't get the thing to work.
I tried using Ralink, and Zydas by following these guides: But none of them worked. The problem with anything involving Zydas is that Zydas appears at the bottom right task bar and disappears again within a few seconds, even when under compatibility mode. (I notice that the bottom right will have 2 alternating icons, an icon that looks like a 2nd wireless internet icon, and the other one being the Zydas icon.

It's like two different company programs are competing to get the control over the hardware. After about 5 minutes the system tells me the USB device is not recognised, even though when it is first inserted it said successful, complete, blah blah) The problem with Ralink is that when I specify the Ralink driver location, the error message 'The specified driver does not give information about the hardware' or something like that comes up.
BTW I tried different USB ports and lalala that kind of stuff. Does anyone have the same problem as me, or does anyone have any solutions/suggestions? Help would really be appreciated otherwise this is like $50 US down the drain. Thanks in advance.
